Free Wi-Fi can now be found on all domestic Express InterCity trains and selected international trains running to Berlin and Vienna. Responsible for providing the services to PKP Intercity carriages is one of the largest mobile operators in Poland – T-Mobile.

Less than a year after an agreement was signed between PKP Intercity and T-Mobile, passengers travelling on every train in the Express InterCity (EIC) category can make use of free wireless Internet access. Beyond the 36 EIC trains covered by the domestic PKP Intercity service, travellers are also able to surf the Internet easily on selected international trains, i.e. the Berlin Warszawa Express (BWE), EC Polonia and EC Chopin.

Trains with free Wi-Fi are running on the most popular routes, including the Tricity - Warsaw - Krakow/ Katowice, Szczecin - Poznań - Warsaw, and Poznań - Wrocław - Katowice - Bielsko-Biała, as well as Warsaw - Vienna - Villach and Warsaw - Berlin,” explains Zuzanna Szopowska, Press Officer at PKP Intercity. “Almost 90,000 passengers a month are making use of the service,” she adds.

Onboard entertainment, in the first half of 2015

Passengers travelling on trains in the EIC category to Krakow, Poznań, Szczecin and Warsaw will very soon be able to take advantage of an onboard entertainment service. This will cover access to 40 films and 15 series, as well as 10 tales and games. Every month 10% of the multimedia content will be changing.

We are planning to introduce onboard entertainment in the first quarter of this year. At the moment materials are being prepared and internal tests conducted,” says Konrad Mróz of T-Mobile Polska.

PKP Intercity and T-Mobile are also working on the introduction of a wireless Internet service on trains in the Express InterCity Premium (EIP) category. The start of the service is planned for the first half of this year.
