Now you can purchase the train tickets using your mobile phone. It is made possible thanks to the new functionality of the Bilkom system. The TK Telekom company joined forces with PKP Intecity to design and implement the first ever entirely mobile ticket purchase system for fully booked journeys in Poland. Bilkom will let you plan your journey, purchase the ticket and present it for the control on your mobile display. What is important, you only need to register once and each following ticket purchase takes literally a minute. Additionally, Bilkom lets you check the departures and arrivals of trains from any station in Poland. It also lets you check the current location of the train which will help you reach any train station without specific knowledge of its whereabouts. Your smartphone will lead you there.
This modern way of selling tickets saves time and offloads the traditional ticket offices. The ticket can be purchased wherever you want, even up to 15 minutes before the train’s departure. You only need a mobile with the Internet access operated by any operator. Easier access to the sale system means comfort and quick purchase – the passenger does not have to go to the train station and the lack of queues is especially practical during vacation time or Christmas season. Bilkom is free of charge and the ticket prices are the same as those purchased at the ticket office. Currently, the Bilkom system offers tickets only for the PKP Intercity EIC or Ex trains. The next stage of the project implementation will allow purchasing tickets for other trains.
How to purchase the ticket?
1. When you register on the www.bilkom.plotwiera się w nowym oknie website, you have to enter the passenger data. The system is able to keep the information, so there is no need to remember the card number or to keep the list of one-time passwords, tokens, etc. Of course, you can use your card once without allowing the system to remember it.
Transaction data is only available to the client and the payment operator of the system.
2. Via the application on your mobile or by using the https://m.bilkom.plotwiera się w nowym oknie mobile website, after selecting your connection you need to click or tap the “Purchase ticket” option.
3. After logging in and selecting the relevant option (class, type of discount), you go to the payment system.
4. After the payment is made, the ticket will arrive shortly on your mobile phone as an MMS message.
5. During the ticket inspection, you have to present the ticket as a 2D code on your phone. There is no need to print it out. A discharged phone is no problem either because the ticket can be accessed online on any device.

The Bilkom application provides updated information on train connections and lets you plan your journey between any given locations in Poland.  In addition to providing the information on train connections, Bilkom counts the time required to reach the station, taking into account the means of transport (on foot, by bicycle, by car). It will also show the current location of the train, inform about the possible obstacles on a given route, and indicate potential delays as well.
Since its launch, Bilkom has been downloaded over 32 000 times and ranks in the top 10 of the iTunes downloads. The application is available in three system versions (Android, Windows Phone 7 and two versions of the IOS on iPhone and iPad)
The further development of the application will largely depend on the users and their preferences. To meet this challenge, a special e-mail address has been activated where you can submit any comments and suggestions: bilkom@tktelekom.plotwiera się w nowym oknie
