Searching for Intercity connections, checking on train punctuality, offers and information important for rail travellers – these are options provided by IC Mobile Navigator, prepared by PKP Intercity for users of mobile devices.
At the beginning of January the application was available for the iPhone, the iPad and smartphones with the Android operating system. Since the beginning of September it has been possible to download it also for telephones with Windows Phone systems.
Using the software is simple and intuitive. Having opened it, a search screen appears allowing a first and last station to be defined, along with the date and time of the journey. Having clicked 'search', the suggested connections are displayed. The list may be expanded to cover earlier and later trains. Clicking on a selected train brings up information on the carriages from which the train is formed, and in the event that the user is unsure of how to reach the station, it is possible to use the option 'Lead to', allowing the navigation to locate the user and show the way.
In addition to this, a train selected can be remembered in the 'Planned' section, making it possible for the user to update departure / arrival time for subsequent days with no need to enter the starting and destination station each time.
The application is integrated with the Infopassenger system, thanks to which it is possible to check – in real time – the punctuality of a selected train at any station on the route. In the course of a journey the application will provide information on where exactly the user is and whether the destination station will be reached on time, allowing for better planning of the continuation of the journey.
The application also has an 'Info' section, where the user will find details of use before and after a journey – information on PKP Intercity offers, where lost luggage is to be found and where a ticket can be purchased.
