The mutual honoring of ZTM tickets in Warsaw and PKP Intercity tickets during Euro 2012
PKP Intercity and Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego (Warsaw Transport Authority) in Warsaw signed an agreement on mutual honoring of tickets during Euro 2012 tournament. This will allow passengers travelling to Warsaw by PKP Intercity trains to benefit from free of charge travels by SKM Warszawa trains
- with PKP Intercity ticket free of charge to Okęcie
airport (Warsaw Chopin Airport)
- with ZTM ticket free of charge in PKP Intercity trains
within the area of Warsaw
- with a Euro 2012 match ticket free of charge in PKP
Intercity trains within the area of Warsaw
PKP Intercity and Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego (Warsaw
Transport Authority) in Warsaw signed an agreement on mutual honoring of
tickets during Euro 2012 tournament. This will allow passengers travelling to
Warsaw by PKP Intercity trains to benefit from free of charge travels by SKM
Warszawa trains and those with ZTM
tickets will able to travel by trains within the area of the capital without
incurring additional costs. It will be possible to travel with a PKP Intercity
ticket without additional charges and get by SKM Warszawa trains to Warsaw airport Okęcie.
Under the agreement, long-term and short-term tickets
issued by ZTM will apply in all trains belonging to PKP Intercity operating on
the following route Warszawa Wschodnia – Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Central
Station) – Warszawa Zachodnia – Dworzec Gdański. Whereas PKP Intercity tickets
will be valid in Szybka Kolej Miejska (SKM) trains on the railway sections located within the area of so called 1 zone, i.e.
limited by stations: Warszawa Wola Grzybowska, Warszawa Falenica, Warszawa
Choszczówka, Warszawa Ursus and Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina (Warsaw Chopin
Airport).
“A passenger will not have to pay extra to travel by
SKM train. He or she must have a ticket for one of PKP Intercity trains that arrives in
Warsaw. Similarly, a ZTM ticket holder will not have to pay extra to travel by Intercity
trains within the area of Warsaw” – said Janusz Malinowski, the President of PKP
Intercity.
PKP Intercity single fare tickets, including those of
the dog, bike or luggage, subscription fare tickets, network and long-term
tickets as well as international tickets issued to/from the following stations Warszawa
Wschodnia, Warszawa Centralna (Central Station), Warszawa Zachodnia, and
special offers sold by PKP Intercity, which include Bilety weekendowe (weekend
tickets), Bilety podróżnika (traveler’s ticket), ICKarnet and tickets encoded
on Polish Pass will be honoured. PKP Intercity tickets will not apply in means
of public transport such as trams and buses.
“The common goal is to provide the most comfortable transportation
to travelers, football fans and residents of Warsaw. Thanks to one PKP
Intercity or ZTM ticket, they will be able to travel around the capital, get to
the National Stadium, railway station or airport without any problems. We are
working to enable a convenient travel by public transport in Warsaw with the
use of PKP Intercity ticket” – said Janusz Malinowski, the President of PKP
Intercity.
Additionally, pursuant to the Resolution No. XXXV/849/2012
of the City Council of Warsaw dated 19 April 2012, holders of match tickets for
Final Tournament of European Football Championship UEFA EURO 2012 held at the
National Stadium will be entitled to travel free by PKP Intercity trains on
this section from midnight on a match day till noon the following day.
People holding UEFA EURO 2012™ accreditation valid in
Warsaw will also be entitled to free travels – on the basis of a accreditation
document containing a pictogram of a bus and tram, volunteers of UEFA EURO
2012™ Host Cities working in Warsaw – on the basis of ID cards issued by the Capital City of Warsaw Municipal
Office and journalists holding accreditation of the City of
Warsaw– on the basis of ID card.

From the 8 June till the 1 July, 2012, there will be
2012 UEFA European Football Championship tournament in Poland and Ukraine. The tournament will be attended by 16 national teams.
Matches will be held in four Polish cities: Warszawa, Poznań, Gdańsk and
Wrocław and four Ukrainian cities: Kiev, Kharkov, Donetsk and Lvov. During Euro
2012 in Poland PKP Intercity will
provide in total nearly 950 national trains to and from the Host Cities, of
which over 50 will be so called additional trains. 475, 000 people will travel
by them according to the carrier. During the Championship 1700 cars and 261
locomotives in the colors of PKP Intercity will operate.
