August 2013 – over 4,000 people greeted the first of the 20 Pendolino trains
being purchased.
The
modern rolling stock arrived at high noon
alongside platform three of Wrocław Main Rail Station. Waiting for it there
were the assembled public and representatives of PKP Group companies and
central and local authorities. Accompanying the event was a large media
presence.

Made available for viewing were two
carriages and the driver's cab. Those interested could see for the first time
the comfortable first- and second-class interiors which from December 2014 will
carry PKP Intercity passengers.
Beyond platform three, where the
presentation was taking place, the whole of Wrocław rail station was overrun
with the silver and blue colours in which the train is painted. Installed at
the front of the station was a large outdoor screen, making it possible to
follow the presentation on the platform. Also placed around the station
premises were interactive stands and screens, with the main hall playing host
to an area for younger admirers of the Polish Pendolino. At the entrance to
platform three it was possible to have a commemorative photograph taken, and
beyond the standard announcements, information on the EIC Premium was provided
through megaphones.
With
such a large number of people in attendance, the viewing – initially scheduled
to end at 2.00 pm – was extended to 3.30 pm.
Following
the presentation for passengers, the EIC Premium rolling stock set off for the
test track of the Railway Scientific and Research Institute, to Żmigród, where
it will undergo approval tests.
A
further opportunity to view the Pendolino will come very soon – it will be
possible to see the Express InterCity Premium category train at the TRAKO
International Railway Fair, which takes place on 24-27 September in Gdańsk.
