Plan your travel on PKP Intercity trains with Google Maps
Google Poland and PKP Intercity have begun a partnership thanks to which the Public Transport option in Google Maps will show the carrier’s connections. Customers planning their trip with Google Maps will have access to information about rail connections in Poland.
Warsaw, 20 January 2015 – Starting today, Google Maps will display PKP Intercity routes, including Express InterCity Premium, Express Intercity, Intercity and Twoje Linie Kolejowe. Users will be able to easily check train schedules, find the best connections and destinations of routes and train stations in Poland. The search option is available in the Google Maps applications on smartphones and tablets as well as the www.google.pl/maps/otwiera się w nowym oknie webpage. The partnership will be developed so that ultimately Google Maps will display approximately 10,000 km of train routes, close to 270 stations and over 300 connections served by PKP Intercity.
Starting today, Google Maps will show almost 300 connections served by PKP Intercity every day. This is how we are the biggest carrier in Central and Eastern Europe with trains listed in Google Maps, explains Zuzanna Szopowska, the spokesperson for PKP Intercity.
How can you plan your train trip? You just have to visit www.google.pl/maps/otwiera się w nowym oknie or launch the Google Maps application on your smartphone or tablet, and click the “Directions” icon. You then select “train travel” from the available options (the train icon) and enter the stations of departure and arrival. This will be enough to start the connection search, check the route, find the train stations or estimate travel time. The Public Transport option allows the user to select the route from any point A to point B taking into account walking to the train station, checking the time of travel and selecting the most convenient method of travel.
We’re glad that Internet users of Google Maps from all over the world, besides information on traveling by car or public transport will also have the ability to check train travel connections.
