Accepting PKP IC tickets on other carriers’ trains
Find out when you can travel by other carriers’ trains while using PKP Intercity ticket. Read before control!
Detailed information on the acceptance of our tickets on trains operated by other carriers
The valid tickets for traveling by trains operated by “PKP Intercity S.A.” indicated below:
1) INTERCITY Cards - PKP IC network tickets in domestic transport (according to N tariff, with a 50% discount);
2) for a journey in international transport issued according to SCIC-NRT, SCIC-TWZ and SCIC-RPT tariff;
3) tickets for transportation of things, a bicycle or a dog (other pets) issued together with a ticket indicated in point 1 or 2 above.
are accepted on trains operated by:
1) „POLREGIO” sp. z o.o.
2) „Koleje Dolnośląskie” S.A.
3 „SKM Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście” sp. z o.o.
Moreover, all valid tickets of PKP Intercity (hereinafter referred to as “PKP IC”) are accepted on trains operated by:
- „POLREGIO” sp. z o.o.
- „Koleje Dolnośląskie” S.A.
- „Koleje Wielkopolskie” sp. z o.o.
- „Koleje Śląskie” sp. z o.o.
- „Arriva RP” sp. z o.o.
- „Koleje Małopolskie” sp. z o.o.
- „Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna” sp. z o.o.
- „Koleje Mazowieckie- KM” sp. z o.o.
in the case of:
- an unplanned cancellation of a train (for reasons different than a schedule change);
- an anticipated delay of a train exceeding 40 minutes;
- a missed connection according to the schedule.
The carrier may - depending on circumstances - order that PKP IC tickets be accepted on the trains operated as part of alternative carriage. Information on the duration and scope of the acceptance of PKP IC tickets is published in a customarily accepted manner.
In the cases described above, on the basis of the ticket that is valid for travelling on a PKP IC train, the traveller has the right to:
- travel by a train operated by a given carrier to a destination station indicated on the PKP IC ticket or to an intermediary station which is on the way to the final destination if the train operated by the carrier accepting such a ticket fails to reach the travellers’ final destination;
- return to the departure station indicated on the PKP IC ticket by a train operated by a given carrier accepting such a ticket or to an intermediary station which is on the way to the final destination if the train operated by the carrier fails to reach the traveller's departure station.
Travellers holding PKP IC tickets who, as an alternative, intend to travel by a train operated by a carrier who accepts such tickets should report their intention to the train crew before of immediately after boarding the train.
Acceptance of tickets does not apply to cases of:
- a cancellation of a PKP IC train which is longer than 24 hours;
- a delay/cancellation of a train or a missed connection due to strike.
Similarly, in the case of:
- an unplanned cancellation of a train operated by a given carrier (for reasons different than a schedule change);
- an anticipated delay of a train operated by a given carrier exceeding 40 minutes;
- a missed connection according to the schedule
PKP IC may - depending on circumstances - order that tickets of a given carrier be accepted on the trains operated as part of alternative carriage. Information on the duration and scope of the acceptance of PKP IC tickets is published in a customarily manner accepted by PKP IC. Then, a traveller holding a ticket of a given carrier has the right to:
1) travel by a train operated by PKP IC to a destination station indicated on the ticket of a given carrier or to an intermediary station which is on the way to the final destination if the train operated by PKP IC fails to reach the travellers’ final destination;
2) return to the departure station indicated on the ticket of a given carrier by a train operated by PKP IC or to an intermediary station which is on the way to the final destination if the train operated by PKP IC fails to reach the traveller's departure station.
Travellers holding tickets of a given carrier who, as an alternative, intend to travel by a train operated by PKP IC (excluding EIP) should report their intention to the train crew before of immediately after boarding a PKP IC train.
The traveller holding a valid ticket for travelling by a train operated by a given carrier does not receive an additional ticket with a seat on a PKP IC train. The traveller may take a seat on such a train, however, only until a person holding a ticket with a seat assigned appears.
Said acceptance does not cover:
- carriage of passengers:
- on international trains,
- in 1st class cars,
- in sleeping cars (WL) and cars with couchettes (Bc),
- on Express InterCity Premium (EIP) trains,
- cases of:
- a cancellation of a train which is longer than 24 hours,
- a delay/cancellation of a train or a missed connection due to strike.
