The last of primeval forests in Europe, it still shields areas covered with centuries-old dead wood and inhabited by rare animals. There is an impressive European wood bison population. These powerful mammals and other wild animals such as deer, wild boars, lynx, beavers and wolves.
Białowieża can be reached by regional train from Warsaw via Siedlce.
