Gdansk
Gdansk has played a very important role in the Polish history. This is where the Second World War broke out and the fall of communism began in Europe. These events are commemorated by the Monument of the Coast Defenders on Westerplatte and the European Solidarity Center.
When in Gdansk you must stroll down Długie Pobrzeże along the Motlawa River by to the historic Crane. It is very close to the City Hall and the Neptune fountain, where the tourists gather. Behind there is the Artus Court, a former merchant meeting place that today houses the Historical Museum of the City of Gdansk.
